Backup incomplete
Hi. I was checking the backup tar.gz file of one of the user accounts but noticed that several files and folders from public_html were missing.
I've been looking for explanations, but everything seems fine, except for the completeness of the data:
1) Logs in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/ show no errors
2) the missing files are not excluded in /home/user/cpbackup-exclude.conf or /etc/cpbackup-exclude.conf
3) The resulting tar.gz can be opened with 7zip without errors
4) There is plenty of hard drive available (66%)
5) There is no pattern in the file attributes (files with the same chmod, owner, group, extension -> some go missing, other not)
6) I don't have the CSF plugin (per Problem with huge accounts backups)
At this point, I'm out of ideas on where to look. Any ideas what could cause this problem, or how to solve it? Thanks a lot
David
Ps, running CENTOS 6.9 x86_64 virtuozzo - cPanel & WHM 64.0 (build 24)

Have you tried creating a Full Website Backup from the Backups area of this account to see if that manual backup has the same files missing? Is there a specific relationship to the files and folders missing like, an addon uploaded to a wordpress site for example has several files and folders to it. Unrelated I suppose but I don't have the CSF plugin
You should, IMO.0 -
Thanks for the suggestion. I made a full website backup but that gave the same result: the same files are missing. I didn't find a relation between the missing files: e.g. some of my php scripts are there, others not; all of them have the same file properties. Any other ideas? 0 -
I'm still leaning on #5 being the issue, TBH. Would you mind opening a ticket to cPanel Technical Support so they can take a closer look? Whatever the issue is, they'll solve this for you. 0 -
Problem solved! It turned out 7zip has a bug and doesn't show all the files; unpacking with the tar command did work. Thanks for the help! 0
