Questions regarding WHM Upgrade

Hi Guys, I inherited a WHM/cPanel server last year which has been compromised several times in the last few months via php, I'm hoping that upgrading to the current version will help prevent more of these issues. The current setup is a Centos 6.8 server running WHM 54.0 (build 19) it's hosting a few thousand accounts for mail and websites, I'd like to perform the upgrade to the latest stable one offered which shows as 11.64.0.24, is it as simple as just pressing the upgrade button and going to the latest or do I need to upgrade through each version one at a time.   Probably not. You might do better to setup a new server, properly secure it and then move accounts over to it. cPanel will update to each version as that single update runs, it could take some time to do as well.
