Basic question about mailing list
Hi guys,
I had a question about creating a mailing list. If for example I create a mailing list named "Sales@exemple.com" and I subscribe all the sales person in the mailing list, is someone who's not in the mailing list would be able to send a email to Sales@exemple.com? From what I understand it's only the user on subscribed who can receive from the list. Or I totally misunderstood the concept of a mailing list.
I want to be able to create something like the distribution list in exchange. In exchange, you can create some list like "sales@exemple.com" and the user can be automatically added by setting a rule that said "anyone who has "sales" as the department" are in this list. You can, after, configure some rules to decide who can send an email to this distribution group, like to allow only specific users and if it can be someone who's not in the domain.
Except for the part of automatically add users to a distribution group with active directory is the Mail list would answer my needs?
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry if this seems to be a really basic answer, but I was not really convinced by the documentation.
Plus, english is not my first language, if i misspelled something I will appreciate if you notice me.

Hello, You can configure this behavior by accessing Mailman as the list administrator, and browsing to "Privacy Settings >> Sender Filters". These options are documented at: 2.7.2 Sender filters Here's the particular option you are looking for: accept_these_nonmembers Postings from non-members whose addresses match this list are accepted, barring other list restrictions due to size, implicit recipients, etc. You might want to add alternative addresses of approved posters to this list.
Thank you.0
