Disable Retro (aka X3) theme style from cPanel

Hi Is there a way to permanently disable X3 (aka Retro) style on cPanel so it can not be selected or used any more? Thank you

    Hi Using the latest stable version 64.0.36 and it is still showing: dns.d.pr/ILi5gi/1kYsWaXt Also I saw this: Updated deprecation schedule for X3 | cPanel Blog "...there"s no plan to remove X3 from existing servers, but as of v60 we will stop shipping it with new servers." So... how can we remove X3 from our server?

    Hello, You can remove the directory for the X3 theme from the following location:
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/
    Additionally, you can remove the "X3" entry from the /var/cpanel/themes.conf file on the system (if it exists) if you want to prevent users from switching to the X3 theme. Thank you.

    Hi, Thank you for your reply. I renamed the theme folder x3 to x3_old under usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/ but it is still possible to enable it from the cPanel area. The file /var/cpanel/themes.conf does not exist in our system. Any other idea?

    Sounds to me like you want to disable the Paper Lantern style called Retro, that looks like x3.

    That might be it! I wasn't aware x3 became rebranded but that is it, indeed. Is there a way to disable the retro style from showing up on cPanel?

    Not that I'm aware of, no. Add More Control to Paper Lantern and Custom Styles x3 wasn't rebranded, it was replaced.

    Rebranded... replaced... renamed... it goes all for the same isn't it? At the end Retro is "the same" as X3 and X3 is indeed a retro theme. I checked the link and it has been 2 years since one cPanel representative mentioned that Retro would eventually be deprecated but so far it remains... Either way... it seems we will have to live with it around the corner.

    OK I'm confused - something that is becoming increasingly frequent with age :( (I blame it all on Infopro :-p ) Retro, a style for cPanel"s Paper Lantern theme based on the look-and-feel of the X3 theme
    Retro " cPanel Blog It does seem there is some question as to the status of the Retro theme. Although Paper Lantern"s Retro Style was intended to approximate that of X3, cPanel developers say that users should not expect a perfect implementation. The main reason the Retro Style was developed is to make the transition easier for all users, and not as the final user destination. There will also be a scheduled deprecation for the Paper Lantern"s default theme, information on which will be provided in the future.
    So what the final disposition of the Retro theme is going to be somehow eludes me. Perhaps we can get some definitive and unequivocal statement regarding this theme from developers o_O

    Hello, We do have an internal case open (PH-4390) for the deprecation of the Retro style, however there's currently no time frame available on when that process will start. We'll publish a blog post with more information on the deprecation schedule when the time comes. In the meantime, we do have a feature request open for the ability to disable a default style at: Allow Server Owners / Resellers to disable individual styles Additionally, in "WHM >> Feature Manager", it's possible to disable the "Change Style" feature in a feature list to prevent end-users from switching from the default style assigned to the account. Thank you.
