    Hi, I would like you to do a live testing, in which you have to send a mail to a nonexisting email address and then monitor the appropriate mails logs: # tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog | grep After this, send a mail to the email address and see what the logs suggests.

    Hello, Could you search for one of the messages exhibiting this behavior in /var/log/exim_mainlog and let us know the output? EX:
    exigrep user@testing /var/log/exim_mainlog
    Ensure to post the output in CODE tags, and remove references to real domain names and IP addresses. Thank you.

    Hi, Thank you for your help. Reading the debug log led me to realise that even though I had deleted the account and all the forwarding addresses, there was an old Auto-Responder that was not active anymore. Since deleting that auto-responder, the mail server is now rejecting mail successfully.
