Invalid Email Addresses wont bounce
Hi
I have an account on out cpanel that refuses to bounce mail to non-existent email addresses, I have changed the default address to :fail: in the control panel for the account. I have also set the system wide default/catch-all destination to Fail as well.
The mail does come back to the sender saying undelivereable, and does not end up in the system account either.
What should i do now?

Hi, I would like you to do a live testing, in which you have to send a mail to a nonexisting email address and then monitor the appropriate mails logs: # tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog | grep After this, send a mail to the email address and see what the logs suggests. 0 -
Hello, Could you search for one of the messages exhibiting this behavior in /var/log/exim_mainlog and let us know the output? EX: exigrep user@testing /var/log/exim_mainlog
Ensure to post the output in CODE tags, and remove references to real domain names and IP addresses. Thank you.0 -
Hi, Thank you for your help. Reading the debug log led me to realise that even though I had deleted the account and all the forwarding addresses, there was an old Auto-Responder that was not active anymore. Since deleting that auto-responder, the mail server is now rejecting mail successfully. 0 -
Hello, I'm happy to see the issue is now solved. Thank you for updating us with the outcome. 0
