Missing emails after mail folder upload
Hi Guys,
Today I uploaded the "mail" folder from an old cPanel server to a new one for one account.
The old mail folder contained emails up to the 18th, today is the 23rd. After the upload all the mails from the 18th to the 23rd went missing (Aside from the ones received after the upload had completed).
My suspicion is that it has something to do with the fact that I only uploaded the mail folder and not the cur folder.
The passwords for these accounts are different on each server.
Please tell me I have not lost the mails from between the 18th and today when I uploaded the mail folder?

Hi, I deleted the dovecot.index files. Do these files index the existing mails in the mailbox? The mails are back so I assume this may have been the issue. 0 -
Hello, You can read more about the Dovecot index files at: IndexFiles - Dovecot Wiki If you want to remove existing index files so they are regenerated, you'd use the following command: /scripts/remove_dovecot_index_files
Keep in mind that manually replacing the entire "mail" directory is not a supported method of restoring email. If you are using the Maildir mailbox format, then you'd want to upload the contents of the individual email account's "cur" directory and then run the "/scripts/mailperm $username" command. Thank you.0
