Sending email to a former domain account results in retry timeout exceeded
Hello,
I had an account on this server associated with a domain name. I have deleted that account and zone, however, I am unable to send email to this domain from only this server it seems.
I have checked localdomains remotedomains and cannot find the problem.
Is this some sort of caching problem? What do I need to do to resolve?
The emails sat in the queue for several days, finally timed out, but now I get the "retry timeout exceeded" delivery failure immediately.
Thanks in Advance!!
Diane

Could you please clarify this a bit more? It sounds like you removed it from one server and added it to another, is that it? 0 -
No, not at all. The account/domain was previously existed on this server, but had never been used. The account along with it's zone were deleted using the Terminate Account function. 0 -
Why would mail still work then? 0 -
Hi, Mail doesn't work at all and that is the problem. No one can send email from this server to anyone at the specific domain that has recently been removed from this server. Undeliverables are immediately sent back that say "retry timeout exceeded". 0 -

Hello, You can use the following command to see what's happening when attempting to send an email from your server to that domain name:exim -bt user@remote-domain.tld
Check to ensure the IP address referenced in the output matches the correct IP address associated with that domain name's mail server, and that it isn't blocked in your server's firewall rules. Thank you.0 -
This issue appears to have resolved itself. There were some issues with the domains DNS/NS records, and those have been resolved. Mail has been delivered. THANKS! 0
