Mail password corruption after transfer
Hi Folks.
I just transferred 24 sites from an older version WHM to a new server using the WHM TRANSFER and SSH root login.
I then spent the next 2 days fixing email passwords for people. Why would email passwords corrupt on the way over?
It did seem that many of the old passwords were possibly setup a while ago, and that maybe like the "MySql encrypted passwords need to be re-saved" feature with TRANSFER, there might need to be a warning...
I have another 100 odd sites to move soon. I am a little worried.

Hello, Could you browse to "WHM >> Review Transfers and Restores" and review the transfer session log for one of the affected accounts to see if there were any error messages during the transfer process? Thank you. 0 -
HI Michael, Only (on some of them) an error like this.. Warning: The system changed the password for the database user "luxs_databs" to a random string because the original password used an old and insecure format that is incompatible with MySQL version (10.0.32-MariaDB). You must manually change the password for "luxs_databs" to match the original password in order to ensure that applications that use the credentials will continue to function. 0 -

Hi Michael, Done - "Your Support Request ID is: 8879785" I am about to do a few more transfers this coming weekend... Cheers, Pete 0 -
I just did a transfer and same thing happened to me. Everything transferred just fine, no issues, but all the email account passwords had to be reset because they didn't work anymore. I've done transfers in the past (not often) and don't remember this happening. Luckily there are very few accounts using email on my server so it wasn't a lot of work to fix it but I feel sorry for people transfer lots of email accounts that this happens to. I also used the SSH root login transfer tool method. 0 -
