Reset incremental backups (with some other questions)
We recently switched backup servers which led to me restarting the incremental backups (as it was new storage). After the first backup I found the backup size was much smaller than expected, with an approximate current usage of 500gb there was a much smaller size used on the backup server.
This leads me to believe that the incremental backups must have some kind of database keeping track of files? If so, how would I "reset" the backups so that we can get a full database set again?
Further to this:
1. How does the incremental backups work? Does it automatically retain the "master" set within the dates?
2. If I need to restore an account (or server), which backup sets would be restored? How is this managed?

Hello, Is this server using cPanel version 66? If so, the following document explains how metadata files are used for incremental backups: Metadata for Backups - Version 66 Documentation - cPanel Documentation That said, creating a new incremental backup destination should not require you to reset any of these files. Can you review the backed up files and verify if there's a specific example of a file that does not exist on the remote destination? Or, do you notice any error messages during the backup generation in the /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/ directory? Thank you. 0
