Email From field being changed incorrectly

Hello all, I believe my problem may be similar but not identical to the one in this thread Rewrite Sender: header to match From: header For many years we have been using a domain host (who uses cpanel) to forward emails from multiple clients through to their clients. However we authenticate to the SMTP server as one user. This has been working without problem until the last couple of months. For example we own the domain smtpsending.co.uk We send: (in) 235 Authentication succeeded (out) MAIL FROM:info@example.co.ukCRLF (in) 250 OK (out) RCPT TO: CRLF (in) 250 Accepted We authenticate to mail.smtpsending.co.uk as client@smtpsending.co.uk This then should get to User@domain.co.uk with a From (and reply) field of info@example.co.uk and has done for many years. However now it gets there as being sent from client@smtpsending.co.uk. I noticed on the received headers that it shows: X-From-Rewrite: rewritten was: [User@domain.co.uk] which I guess is the crucial line. How can I either change this myself or advise the domain host to change it back so it doesn't "correct" the from field, which I realise is spoofed? I have no access to WHM. many thanks!   Hello, The following option is available under the "Mail" tab in "WHM >> Exim Configuration Manager >> Basic Editor": EXPERIMENTAL: Rewrite From: header to match actual sender Per it's description: If you enabled this option, the From: header will be rewritten to be the email address of the actual message sender. If you choose the "remote" option, only messages that are being sent to remote destinations will be affected. You won't be able to change this behavior without root access to the server. You can check with your hosting provider to see if it's an option they are willing to modify. Thank you.

  Thanks. They aren't willing to change it back. I guess my next question is can someone recommend a cheap and cheerful UK domain host who will allow me WHM access including this function? cheers

  Hi infopro - thanks for that. Indeed that's the issue - there are hundreds all over the world. I was really after a forum member from the UK who actually had experience with a particular flexible host, who knew I would be able to access the WHM and enable/disable this particular function regards

  There are no Hosting Providers that'll give a Website Owner access to WebHost Manager. You're going to have to step up your game and get your own server which will give you full access to everything. Or, find another way to send email that's not, basically, spoofing.
