/dev/mapper/centos-root - What Gets Stored Here?

I'll ask the silly question...what gets stored in /dev/mapper/centos-root? I had a dedicated machine running CentOS 6.9 - it ran for nearly 6-7 years with zero storage issues. However I was running some version of RAID. My new server running CentOS 7.4 is somehow 88% full with only 27 domains added to the server. I am not running RAID on this machine, but two 1TB drives. Tech told me I might need to purchase additional storage. This makes no sense to me. Why so little space allocated to this partition with a 1TB drive?
