Domain change issues
Hello,
Unfortunately, there are many problems with changing main domain in new version of cpanel.
We use release version (66.x and 68.x) of cpanel in Centos (Cloudlinux) 6.x and 7.x
Problem exists almost in all servers.
Errors:
A dns entry already exists
domain exists in /etc/valiases
,...
Errors are very clear (thank you for showing accurate errors) But they are more than before.
We have to delete entries manually
Most of times after deleting entries and changing domain, it will redirect to famous cpanel page: "cpanel default website page". It is not cached page. We test it in different systems and different locations. We have to "backup --> terminate account --> restore account" to resolve problem.

Hello, Errors are very clear (thank you for showing accurate errors) But they are more than before.
In the past, the error message was generic and always stated: Sorry, the domain $domain is already setup!
We improved this in cPanel version 66 with the following case: Fixed case CPANEL-6233: Say why domain is already set up on domain change failuresMost of times after deleting entries and changing domain, it will redirect to famous cpanel page: "cpanel default website page". Could you provide us with the step-by-step instructions of how you are reproducing this issue? For instance, is it an existing DNS zone you are deleting, or an entry in /etc/valiases you are removing? Are you running any commands after the removal? Thank you.0 -
This error occurred sometimes like now: I've just transferred backup (user1, domain1.com) from another server. (transfer tools) Removed old website (user2, domain2.com) Then I tried to change domain via Modify an account (user1 --> user2 & domain1.com --> domain2.com) ERROR API failure: (XID dyzc2t) The system failed to rename "/var/cpanel/ssl/apache_tls/domain1.com" to "/var/cpanel/ssl/apache_tls/domain2.com" because of an error: File exists I removed this folder /var/cpanel/ssl/apache_tls/domain2.com and then problem solved 0 -

Hello, Internal case CPANEL-16876 is open to address an issue where removing an account with a valid SSL certificate, and then attempting to change the domain on another account to the removed one, results in a failure due to the Apache TLS entry still existing. I'll update this thread once we've published a resolution. In the meantime, the temporary workaround is to run the following command after removing the account:cd /usr/local/cpanel/; ./bin/servers_queue queue unset_tls ; ./bin/servers_queue run
Thank you.0 -
Hello, To update, the resolution is included in cPanel version 68.0.16: Fixed case CPANEL-16876: Ensure domain TLS entries can be replaced right after unset. Thank you. 0
