Forwarder and SMTP Access
Hello,
I would like to set-up a forwarder from bob@example.com to bob@gmail.com. So far so easy.
However, I'd also like to grant this user SMTP access so they can send outgoing mail from the server (so the sender IP matches the reverse-DNS-lookup). How can I achieve this, as a website owner and end-user without WHM or greater access?
I've tried setting up both an e-mail account and a forwarder. Whilst external mail traffic honours the forwarder, any peer-to-peer e-mail traffic on example.com does not go via the forwarder and is delivered to the inbox of bob@example.com.
Is there some functionality I'm overlooking? I don't really want to have to set-up bob.smtp.sender@example.com for outgoing SMTP access (which the user would use to send mails with the FROM header of `bob@example.com`) as it has a high overhead when explaining this to the end-user.

Hello, Emails sent to bob@example should be forwarded even if the sender is local to the cPanel server. Have you reported this behavior to your web hosting provider so they can take a closer look to see why that's not happening? Thank you.0
