SSH Permission Denied For Root Access via GUI
I maxed out my disk space and need to delete my backups. When I attempt to access the backup directory it returns: "permission denied."
My backup directory is right off the root: it's " /backup ."
I've been trying for HOURS to fix this problem. Can someone proficient please tell me what syntax or simple command i need to see my backups so i can delete them? And whether I can/can't use a GUI on Mac to do this?
I've been using CyberDuck and FileZilla on Mac. This is to access a GoDaddy VPS and I have root admin access, and can access tons of folders in the server root directory, but not the /backup folder. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have also logged in using PUTTY on Windows, and still getting a Permission Denied when trying to ls the backup/ directory 0 -
Hello, Are you accessing SSH as the "root" user? If so, let us know the output from the following commands: mount|grep backup stat /backup
Thank you.0 -
Yes I was, but I'm a total novice - never done anything like this before, so after hours of Google-Fu I've just realised on some of these things I need to type sudo before the commands, which is finally letting me do what I need to do! Thank you for your response, but I think I've just figures it out! Doh! Oh well, a new skill acquired. 0
