php*.ini loaded as php.ini
Hi,
One of our customers had two php-backup.ini files uploaded in his web space from his own Windows environment. And although "-backup" was added to the file, it was still picked up as a genuine php.ini file. You may need to look at this as it had cost me quite some time to figure out that this was causing the "500 Internal server" errors.
Regards.

Hello, Is suPHP enabled for the version of PHP assigned to that account? If so, the detection of the .ini file is the expected behavior. We document how this works in more detail at: The cPanel PHPRC PHP Patch for EasyApache 4 - EasyApache 4 - cPanel Documentation You can use a naming format such as "php.ini.backup" so that the extension doesn't end with ".ini" to avoid this. Thank you. 0 -
@cPanelMichael: Yes, suPHP has been enabled for all PHP versions on our servers. The problem however is that this renamed ini file did not cause any problems before (it's been there since 2013!), but only since the latest new upgrade of PHP by cPanel's auto-upgrade it started to cause forementioned "500 Internal server" error. 0 -
Hello, Yes, it's possible some recent changes in cPanel 64/66 resulted in you noticing the issue. Some of those changes are discussed on the following thread: SOLVED - cPanel 66 Update MultiPHP INI Editor Changes That said, it's not considered a bug, as is behaving as expected per the information at: The cPanel PHPRC PHP Patch for EasyApache 4 - EasyApache 4 - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0
