Mysql will not start

Hi. Today my server had to have a new raid, its been fixed now. All services were restored but mysql will not restart I get the following error CR_CONNECTION_ERROR (Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)) What does this mean?

  Hello, Do you notice any output to /var/lib/mysql/$hostname.err when attempting to start MySQL? Thank you.
