Honestly, I'm not convinced that's a good idea. I host a lot of WP sites, and I'm brutal strict about them staying up-to-date, but due diligence needs to be done. It is also a daily task and not a monthly task. I use Infinite Wordpress myself as a tool for managing this properly in a single dashboard. It is not a 1-click magic button, but it dramatically reduces the work in doing this. There are other apps of this sort out there, but it has worked for me, with a reasonable workflow. infinitewp.com

Not sure what you mean by "due diligence" .. If an update is available, shouldn't the updates just be done? We're not doing any code customisations on the websites. Just running standard websites with WordPress installed from the cPanel with standard themes and standard plugins available on Wordpress.org which need to be updated.

Hello, You won't be able to do this for the custom plugins or themes, as that will require you or the user to do that manually. However, for core updates, you can update all outdated installations using "WHM >>Manage cPAddons Site Software". We document this at: Manage cPAddons Site Software - Version 68 Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you.

Generally yes, and that's the point of auto-updates for minor core release points, usually security related. Major version releases have great potential to break plugins that a site might be dependant on. They should still be done of course, but there's no harm in waiting a couple days to go from 4.x to 5.0, so plugin authors can be more sure to be caught up. Backups (files and db) are also important before updating, though I suppose what level of service you are selling your clients. I'm pretty ruthless with my clients, but they know that before signing on. They like being on a secure and robust server. For my approach, Infinite WP or something of it's like, serves well.

Hey all, I've been using a Plugin called UpdraftPlus to auto-update WordPress, Plugins and Themes with a click of a button. This appears to be working just fine
