When setting up there accounts in outlook it says first of all "An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available.." and will only let them set it up if you manually enter the hostname of the server (as their domain is not currently hosted with me, they are just pointing there mx records to me. Webmail on the server works fine.

Hello, Can you have them point the "A" record for "mail.theirdomain.tld" to your server so that the AutoSSL feature can assign a free signed SSL certificate to it. This should allow them to use "mail.theirdomain.tld" as the mail server name in their email client. Thank you.

Thanks for that - that seems to have made them able to connect through Outlook & iPhone mail, but they are using Apple Mail on their desktop. Whatever I do I cannot seem to get Apple Mail to connect to it - says unable top verify account name or password.

Can you let us know what's configured for "Server Settings" under "Mail >> Preferences >> Accounts"? Ensure to replace real domain names with examples. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for your help. I don't think the issue is to do with the server, it sets up in Microsoft Outlook, iPhone etc with no issues at all. Just looking to see if theres any current bugs with El Capitan Apple Mail
