Emails sent to gmail are going to spam
Hi all
Our emails that are being sent from our online form to our gmail account are going to spam. We've updated our SPV plus all the other records (DMARC) at our registrar but to no avail. One thing I noticed is that even though our FROM address has been set to our domain name (myfabwebsite.com), the email we are receiving in spam says that our from address is the server hostname (server.abc.def.mybluehost.me). I can go into WHM and change it via t he 'change hostname' panel.
Question 1: will that fix the issue
Question 2: could it break the site
Question 3: if it breaks the site can i just revert to the previous hostname in order to roll back.
Thanks all.

Hey there! I wouldn't expect the hostname to be related to the issue here. All email headers will show the hostname of the machine.
Is the online form using authentication? As in, does the form send with an actual email address and uses a password to connect?

Thanks for the response.
"All email headers will show the hostname of the machine" >> so if I change the hostname, then the previous hostname will still show up on the email as 'sent from'?
"Is the online form using authentication? As in, does the form send with an actual email address and uses a password to connect?" >> No I just use a simple PHP form using mail() and our website email as the from address.
Question: If I go ahead and change the hostname anyway will that crash our site?

Changing the hostname will not have any affect on your site.
The ultimate solution will be to redo your form to use authentication. Until that happens, the email will continue to reach the spam folder.

Ok thanks. I'll take a closer look at the authentication and if that fixes things.

When you click "Show original message2 in Gmail, does it give any indications as to why it might be classes as spam? It might have SPF/DKIM/DMARC details at the top of the page.
Have you got reverse DNS setup so when Google looks up your IP address it gets your server hostname and when it looks up your hostname it gets your IP address?
It might be worth signing up for Google's Postmaster service ( https://www.gmail.com/postmaster/ ) just in case it gives anything useful (it hasn't for me, but my server doesn't send a lot through Gmail) and/or use their troubleshooter at https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/2696779 to see if that helps.
