Mail Quota Notifications etc...
AnsweredHi,
So we have the system configured to send notifications when a mailbox reaches 80%, 90% and 95% if I remember correctly. I'm assuming the notifications are sent to the individual email account that is reaching the limit or does it go to the Account's (domain level) Contact Email?
Also, is there a way to have the system notify us, the Root Administrators of all domains, if any account/domain is approaching their Disk Usage limit? What about what a mailbox that is reaching its quota? We'd like to be proactive and reach out to our customers to let them know in case they aren't paying attention to the notifications. :)

Does this older post help clear things up?

Yes, that should clear things up.
I will go back into the settings and take a look. If I can remember where to find them. So many settings. :)
Also, while we are on the topic of quotas and notifications.....From what I was previously told, the Disk Usage under statistics includes all data including MySQL data, Web Site data, Email data etc.... correct? What happens when an account reaches their Disk Usage limit? Are there notifications that can be sent to the Account's Contact Email Address, and to us the Root Admins?
We'd like to be proactive and reach out to our customers when they are reaching let's say their MySQL quota limits, or the main Disk Usage limit... etc....
Thank you!

If the account reaches the limit, they wouldn't be able to receive additional email, so sending a notification to the admin at that point wouldn't work. There is the "User Disk Usage" option in WHM >> Contact Manager that would send the alert to root as well if you wanted to receive that.

I found the settings. Looks like we have warnings set at different levels and Admin/Resellers are only notified when things reach critical state. So, I think we are good there. I didn't see a setting to warn when a MySQL database reaches its limit. Is there one?

No, there is not a limit specific to only the databases.

There isn't a limit? Then why do we see this? MySQL® Disk Usage0 bytes / 19.99 GB (0%)?
We would like to be notified when customers reach their MySQL disk usage limit which appears to be set at 20GB.
Also, when a admin/reseller is notified about a disk usage critical warning, where are the settings with contact information so we can receive these warnings? I see where we configured an email address to receive system warnings.... Does this include all the other account/domain quota warnings as well?
Thank you. That should do it. :) I appreciate your help!

That's correct - there isn't a specific quota that you can apply just to MySQL. If you look at this example screenshot, you'll see the MySQL usage can grow to fill the remaining space of the account:
That 9.86G of space is just the 10G minus the 146M already being used in other areas of the account.
The admin and reseller contact would each be their main email addresses configured in WHM.

Okay, I understand the quota info you mentioned above for MySQL. I thought it had it's own quota limit. Thanks for the clarification. Is there a report somewhere that can be configured to send us MySQL storage usage data for each account/domain?
1. Home / Server Configuration / Basic WebHost Manager® Setup. This is where we have our support email address set to receive system warnings etc.... But where do we configure an email address as Root/System Admins to receive customer's (accounts) disk quota critical warnings?
2. Difference between Admin/Reseller?
3. Are any of these account level notifications (disk quota warnings, email quota warnings) going to the accounts contact email address as shown in the List Accounts section? This isn't as critical as us the reseller/Root Admins receiving these notification as we will contact our customers directly when certain warnings are sent.
Thank you again. Just trying to understand how all this works so we can provide the best support possible to our customers etc...

Q1: Is there a report somewhere that can be configured to send us MySQL storage usage data for each account/domain?
A: No, there is currently no such functionQ2: 1. Home / Server Configuration / Basic WebHost Manager® Setup. This is where we have our support email address set to receive system warnings etc.... But where do we configure an email address as Root/System Admins to receive customer's (accounts) disk quota critical warnings?
A: That's all from WHM >> Contact Information. You'll find the "Disk Usage Warnings" and "User Disk Usage Warning" options there.Q3: Difference between Admin/Reseller?
A: They are just different types of accounts. The admin can refer to either the cPanel account owner or root.Q4: 3. Are any of these account level notifications (disk quota warnings, email quota warnings) going to the accounts contact email address as shown in the List Accounts section? This isn't as critical as us the reseller/Root Admins receiving these notification as we will contact our customers directly when certain warnings are sent.
A: Yes, based on the settings available in WHM >> Tweak Settings.0 -
Thanks for the info.
So under Tweak Settings, when it says, "The disk quota percentage at which an account enters the “critical” state. An email notification will be sent to the user." The USER is the main contact email for that account which you can see from the List Account/Contact Email column? TY
