Purpose of cpanel.srv.net in the local DNS?

Hey there!  I'm not entirely sure as I don't see those on a test machine and that subdomain doesn't resolve.  Can you get me a bit more context as to what it is pointing to?  Either the text or a screenshot of that specific record would work.

I should note I downloaded and installed Cpanel myself from the Almalinux command line so it's not something my hosting provider could have done.  The srv.net domain is associated with Sitestar.  I have no relationship with Sitestar.  I am wondering if some WHM feature or plugin is using it.  I never added this domain account. And as mentioned it's not listed in the account list.

I'm going to SSH in and do a grep on that domain name and see what turns up...

Okay, grep'd the whole server for cpanel.srv.net. That domain is only found in the dns config file (etc/named.conf) and in no other files on the server.   If it has nothing to do with WHM than it's a mystery why it was added.  The A record doesn't point to my server's address.

What's even stranger is there isn't a single web page in the entire Google search index with that domain mentioned. So I'm the first to bring this up!

Thanks for those details.  I can confirm this wouldn't be something that we created, so you're free to remove this.

Thinking through it more, the only way it could have probably come over is when I used Transfer Tool to migrate accounts from an old server I also enabled the migration of all WHM config option. So it must be some old leftover legacy DNS zone that was used for some reason long ago on my old server.

It could have come from transfer tool, yes, but you are indeed the first to bring this up, which is even more evidence it's not something from our side.

I'd just delete the zone and not worry too much about it.
