A couple of thousand Emails hitting me from cPanel error reporting IMAP/Dovecot will not start
Hello,
I think this issue stems from Mar 22 13:28:27 56 dovecot[3917]: Fatal: service(lmtp) User doesn't exist: mailnull (See service lmtp { unix_listener /var/run/dovecot/lmtp { user } } setting)
I am having problems understanding the DNS side of things. I've pointed over an A Record to the VPS IP. I am running Ubuntu with a clean and fresh copy of cPanel that is on a trial license.
The VPS company have a relay service and these errors are being generated in their thousands, pushed over the relay and are flooding my inbox that is hosted by another company.
I noticed, upon install, that cPanel populated default nameservers, however, I am not sure if that was dummy information or whether they would work. Sillily, I overwrote them with my own but then found out my Registrar will not attach glue records for me.
If the two are connected, i'm not sure what I can use for nameservers or indeed how I could go about settings this up.
If the issues are not connected, I am thoroughly stuck. A search of Google (at least without being able to recognise what I am looking for) did not produce much.
Many thanks.
Indieben
p.s - I can't seem to change my name from "unknown" as it's set automatically in some mysterious location!

If anybody wants to answer this for anybody else feel free and thanks. I've decided cPanel isn't for me i'm moving forward with DirectAdmin that is better supported and more reasonable on price.

It sounds like you would just need to create your own custom nameservers in order to get things working:
https://docs.cpanel.net/knowledge-base/dns/how-to-set-up-nameservers-in-a-cpanel-environment/
If you do have any other questions about cPanel in the future even though you mentioned moving to a different product, feel free to ask!
