Cpanel migration/ elevation

Hello everyone,

Right now our business is running Cpanel on CentOS 7, since it is getting to its EOL on June 30 we are planning to migrate to a new server or elevating from CentOS 7 to Rocky 8 or Alma Linux 8.

I wanted your advice to tell us which option is more viable, elevating the VM or creating a new server and migrating the existing accounts?

  Hey there!  They are both good options - it's really just about which one you're more comfortable with.

  If you have the chance to make a full snapshot of the VM provided by your server provider then I would definitely go with the upgrade as that would save you time setting up the new server, updating nameservers etc etc and if it doesn't work out for some reason (although we have quite good experience with the elevate tool so far) you can always restore from snapshot with just a click easily.
