nas storage ftp backup connection problem
Hello
There is zyxel nas542 model storage in my office. This device is currently active with all its features. I enabled the ftp feature. I am trying to make arrangements so that cpanel servers can additionally take backups to this device.
I can connect to the storage from outside via FTP. My directadmin server uploads backups to this storage via FTP. But I could not achieve this on any of my cpanel servers.
I create an additional target location and enter the information. When I want to verify, it gives the error "Error: Validation for transport “ftp” failed: Could not upload test file: [Net::FTP] Connection closed". When I look at the device, I see the test file (validate.tmp-10878-1713291411.txt). but the verification fails. I tried different combinations of settings but I was not successful.
Do you have any suggestions regarding this error?

Are you able to connect to your FTP server from the cPanel server via SSH? (Login as root and use the "ftp" command to connect manually).

Yes. I was able to connect via ssh without any problems and list the folder. I even transferred files mutually using put and get without any problems.

In this case configure the FTP destination and force a backup via SSH as root:
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup --force
then monitor the log file

In this case, will I need to backup constantly this way, not with cron?

No, that is just the manual command to call the automated backup process as a test - the automated backups will still run normally.

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup --force
The server took the backup with the command. When I examine the log file, there is no line regarding ftp. Since the ftp account is not enabled in the Additional Destinations, I think the server has not even made a connection.0 -
There are separate log files for the remote connection. These would be located in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup_transporter so you'd want to check that area to see if it started a transfer session.

I am sad. The log file contains only drive-related logs. There is no record of even failed ftp connections.

It would likely be best to open a ticket with our team so we can take a look at the system for you.
