OS upgrade/Transfer tool goes awry (Centos 7.9 -> almaLinux 8)
Not sure if this is in right category - but it did start coz we needed to upgrade OS as Centos was going EOL.
We have a server running CPanel. (Call it oursite.com). Knowing the upgrade would also entail some other key upgrades (MariaDB 10.3 -> and PHp 7.4 ->) we acquired another server with the idea to transfer the site via Cpanels Transfer Tool and then use ELEVATE to upgrade the OS. We ordered the new server with Centos 7.9 We gave it a hostname of oursite.ca (we own this domain and had previously just forwarded it to oursite.com. We changed the forward to point to the IP of the test server.).
We then ran the Transfer tool. We had some database issues on the transfer (see below) but while investigating that we started to notice serious issues with the production server (oursite.com). It was responding sluggishly and throwing off several errors (database connections and 404s. After investigating we found that our production website (www.oursite.com) was actually going to the newly created test site (which hadnt been fully configured). I can't understand how that is happening. We tried shutting down the new site but we get 503 errors. I had thought that the existing production site should have been unaffected my the Transfer tool. Im at wits end for next steps.
Thoughts?

When you use Transfer Tool the first time it warns you that it will use Live Transfer by default which means it will automatically suspend the account on the old server and point the IP address of the domain name over to the new server once the migration is completed. I'm sure you didn't disable this option hence everything is now pointing over to the new server.
The solution is to unsuspend the account on the old server (do not tick the box "retaing proxying).
