Old domain exists in DNS cluster but not found in any server
I've got a problem with DNS zone (let's call it: cp.domain.tld). This zone exists in our DNS cluster. I can find the zone file on the DNSONLY servers (/var/named directory). Zone file is there and it is still answering for the DNS queries.
I can't find this domain from any of my cPanel servers which are using our DNS cluster. The domain is old domain and it was deleted from our cPanel server in January 2024. I've got no idea why the zone file was left behind and still exists.
Today I'm in a situation where I have to re-create the account with the same domain name: cp.domain.tld. I'm trying to create a new account, using the same domain. I'm getting an error which says the domain already exists in the cluster. New account creation is failed.
How can I remove/delete this "ghost zone" from our DNS cluster? We have got two DNSONLY servers in our DNS cluster.
I've got access to all our WHM servers, DNSONLY servers and SSH root access also.

You should be able to log into WHM on any of the servers connected to the cluster and delete the DNS zone under the DNS functions.

I've tried that already. I know which server had the zone before the account was removed. I can't find the zone or domain from that server or from any WHM server. WHM doesn't list the zone.

Hey there! On a DNSOnly system you can use the /scripts/killdns command to remove the DNS zone just from that machine, which should take care of the issue you're seeing. Let me know if that doesn't work for some reason!
