Confusion with hdd, ssd space - Cpanel with Hetzner
Hi,
i have the following hardware on my server on Hetzner:
HDD2x HDD SATA 2,0 TB Enterprise
HDD2x SSD SATA 1,92 TB Datacenter
When i install Cpanel on AlmaLinux with Cpanel, and check df -h i get this:
Can someone explain where are my 4 TB of space gone? I can't find anywhere how cpanel installation partitions hdd's, and does it make raid 1 when it's possible.
In Hetzner robot there is only option to install cpanel with alma linux 8.9, no any additional configuration. When being asked about more info, they forward users to cpanel forums.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi!
You have configured RAID6 across all disks. That will give you (4-2) x 1,8TB ~= 3,5TB. So looks ok to me :-)

Hi Michael,
yeah, as i understood correctly all 3 disks have 3 partiotions, swap is raid 1, the rest is raid 6.
But my problem here is this, every server gets different configurarion when installing Cpanel over Hetzner robot. You can only choose alma linux version (or centos previously). When i ask how do they setup cpanel, they send me to cpanel for more info...which doesn't make sense.
On my previous server, i only have raid 1.
It seems to me, if you have 4 disks it does raid 6, if you have 2, raid 1 then. Is that maybe normal cpanel installation behaviour?0 -
Not cPanel, but Hetzner - it's normal behaviour at Hetzner.
If you want to customize the installation, you have to use their installimage script:

I can also confirm that cPanel doesn't do anything related to partitioning as part of the installation process.

Thanks, it makes total sense. Cpanel installs where the system is installed. And i guess they have different auto scripts for different drive condigurations.
