Ip address does not exist on the server
Hello,
I have got a domain with A2 hosting called REDACTED that I coupled from my domain name server. Recently I got an email from <redacted> stating:
domain.com: The AutoSSL certificate expires on Jun 25, 2024 at 7:15:45 AM UTC. At the time of this notice, the certificate will expire in 4 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes, and 33 seconds.
AutoSSL did not renew the certificate for “domain.com”. You must take action to keep this site secure.
The “LetsEncrypt” AutoSSL provider could not renew the SSL certificate without a reduction of coverage because of the following problems:
⛔ cpcalendars.domain.com (checked on Jun 21, 2024 at 4:00:05 AM UTC)DNS DCV: No local authority: “cpcalendars.domain.com”; HTTP DCV: The system queried for a temporary file at “https://domain.nl/404.shtml”, which was redirected from “http://cpcalendars.domain.nl/.well-known/acme-challenge/BLS0ZCEIGP2XH-PYAFXO7NTQ-8B2N2QL”. The web server responded with the following error: 500 (Internal Server Error). A DNS (Domain Name System) or web server misconfiguration may exist. The domain “cpcalendars.domain.nl” resolved to an IP address “###.###.##.###” that does not exist on this server.
The information about the expiry date is not in accord with what I see on my ssl status which says it expires on August 25. It left me confused. What can be the root cause for this notification and how can it be solved?

Hey there! I updated your post as we can't share domain names or IP addresses on the Forum. I do see the SSL for the domain expires in August, so I agree the message is confusing. Is it possible this message is being sent from a server that is still online, but not being used? This can happen if the domain was migrated, and you could confirm this by checking the headers of the email, which would confirm the origin of the message.

Thank you very much for your reply. Indeed the server name mentioned in the email headers differs from my current server name, so this should explain the weird email notifications I get. Thanks again.
Is there a way I can prevent these messages from being send again or should I just ignore them?

There wouldn't be a way to disable them until you remove the account from the other machine, or take that machine offline. Since you've confirmed what is happening you can just ignore them.
