Hey there!  By default, cPanel doesn't install or use postfix and it's not a tool that we have ever supported, so you'll likely need to work with a system administrator to see what custom configurations were setup on that machine.  It's odd to me that it was present and you had to remove it.

Normally, Exim is configured by default on the machine as part of the initial installation, but if your server had cPanel and Postfix working at the same time there were likely many other customizations performed on the machine.  I wouldn't be able to tell you with any certainty how you could get Exim working and stable on that system, unfortunately.

Hello.... I manage that machine. What I wonder, is why I cannot install Exim because it is already a component called cpanel-exim. So, the questions could be, what is cpanel-exim? how can I reinstall it? or, how can I remove it? is it critical for cPanel operation regarding e-mail?

I have already removed Postfix, so no other web server is active in the system.

I have paid to have cPanel in my server, so, where can I get support so that someone can help me to solve this?

    Thanks

    Jaime

    Hello Jaime,

cpanel-exim is Exim. It's repackaged because. we made some significant changes to work with the cPanel UI system. You sould not install Exim via apt install as that will definitely break many things.

If cpanel-exim isn't working properly, you can try this:

    /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/check_cpanel_pkgs

If that detects anything wrong with the cpanel-exim package (or any cPanel provided package) you will be given the option to fix it.
