almalinux 8 - nftables question in relation to host access control, brute force protection, etc
Almalinux 8 - is nftables required for things like host access control, brute force protection, and so on to function properly within WHM? In other words, an OS firewall?
I have brute force protection enabled and it is showing entries in the history reports for blocking bad dovecot logins for example... BUT... now I am wondering how that blocking and things like host access control actually work behind the scenes. Does it use nftables or some other mechanism? I ask because when originally installing almalinux 8 the guide said to turn off the firewall during installation (https://docs.cpanel.net/installation-guide/system-requirements-almalinux/). So, right now when I run '#systemctl status nftables', while it is loaded, it is also disabled/inactive?
That got me wondering... will brute force protection, host access control, etc function as they should with no OS firewall enabled?
