Question about the gobernance of "Upstream issue in MySQL 8.0.38"
Hi ! Please excuse my English.
My question is related to this issue:
The cPanel license of our VPS and Dedicated is not from cPanel itself, but from "Newfold Digital, Inc.." > "Hostgator"
The issue is that the 2 servers keep having the MySQL version updated to the problematic release. I needed to use a program to lock that.
I wanted to know if this auto update is something related to hostgator or from cPanel.
Also I want to ask . Do you offer hosting? dedicated and VPS hosting?
Thank you

Hey there! cPanel itself doesn't offer hosting - we simply provide the software.
I would actually say neither - the update is provided directly from the MySQL repositories, and isn't related to either cPanel or Hostgator.
If the lock is in place as outlined in the article, I wouldn't expect the update to keep happening.

Yes - for now you should add the lock, and then remove it once the upstream issue is resolved.

Thank you cPRex !
So the solution is still the lock, got it!0 -

now that MYSQL 8.0.39 is released MySQL :: MySQL 8.0 Release Notes can you confirm that the MYSQL update will work and not the server will function properly? Has anyone upgraded to MYSQL 8.0.39 using the SOFTWARE > SYSTEM UPDATE and can report the experience of upgrade and functionality?
With the version lock in place we do not get any updates to the server like firmware, other server software or easy Apache so it is blocking more than just MYSQL not ideal. In previous versions of cpanel I remember we could continue to get updates to all software without version lock and then choose when to upgrade MYSQL under Database Services / Upgrade Database Version. Why is this not the case?

No, they actually didn't include the fix in the .39 release for some reason. Using the version lock I would still expect you to get updates for other packages on the system.
