Using _mainaccount@domain.com to send emails
Account has email externally hosted with M365. Website sits within cPanel on my server.
I want to send SMTP emails from the server and have done so previously using the system account _mainaccount@domain.com
I have reset the cPanel account password and successfully used this to log into cPanel as the account user.
I copied the exact same password and entered into Post SMTP as follows:
Type Other SMTP
Mailer Type PostSMTP
Outgoing Mail Server Hostname mail.domain.com
Outgoing Mail Server Port 465
Envelope-From Email Address admin@domain.com
Security SMTPS
Authentication Login
Username _mainaccount@domain.com
Password ••••••••••••••••••
BUT, even though this password allows me to successfully log into cPanel, it is not working with _mainaccount@ giving the error: Incorrect authentication data
I have reset the password 3 times now but nothing I do will make it work.
Am I using the correct password for _mainaccount@domain.com?
Why is this always failing? Has something changed in cPanel disallowing the use of _mainaccount@domain.com?

Is _mainaccount the cPanel username?
If it is then you must use _mainaccount as the mail username, not _mainaccount@domain.com

No, _mainaccount is not the cPanel username. Every cPanel account, regardless of the username selected, has a default system account. To use this default system account in every cPanel instance, you can use _mainaccount@domain.com as mail settings:
Access ANY cPanel account.
Click "Email Accounts".
Next to the "System" under "Account @ Domain", click "Connect Devices"0 -
