Storage Calculation with Latest Unit of Measure
Dear concern,
We are facing a problem and therefore resorted to you. The problem is, You all are aware that the current measurement unit of Digital Storage & Internet Bandwidth has changed. For example, 1GB(GigaByte) equals 1000MB and 1024 MB equals 1GiB(GigiByte).

And there are many more ref I can provide you if you want.
Now the problem is that you calculate 1024 MB equals 1 GB, when in fact it is GiB.
Now when we are calculating and packing 1GB equal to 1000MB with current era. There you are showing as 1024, there is a miscalculation here. Now how can we solve it?
Either tell me the way to show GiB here or tell me how to calculate with 1000.
Note: Like webuzo and others panels already implemented an option to select https://prnt.sc/BO7mvkfzyCLA
Please provide us a solution.

Hey there! I don't have a built-in way to resolve this issue - the best thing I can recommend would be to submit a feature request at features.cpanel.net and then I can get it in front of the correct team for review.

@cPRex I have submitted it before but not accepted, Maybe they can't understand this case. it's an important issue.
Once upon a time storage companies and bandwidth companies calculated 1024MB as 1000GB
but in this era now companies calculate with new units of measure.
If you see big giants like Samsung move into new units of measure.
Was 256GB SSD, Now 250GB,
Was 512GB SSD, Now 500GB,
It was 1 TB as 1024, and now 1 TB as 1000GB.-1 -
Can you submit it again? We revamped the features site earlier this year, and I manage that area now, so I'll be sure to see it.

I just submitted the case, can you please check It?

I see it there, and I'll bring it up with the team during the next meeting.

cPanel should update the disk calculation method.

cPanel should implement this as soon as possible to avoid confusion among the users.

I completely agree with this point! The distinction between GB (1000MB) and GiB (1024MB) is crucial, especially with the increasing clarity in the industry about the differences. It’s easy to see how this can cause confusion for end users who expect the standard 1GB = 1000MB.
Having an option to choose between GB and GiB would be incredibly helpful and would align cPanel with other control panels that have already implemented this feature. I believe adding this feature would enhance user experience and prevent any potential misunderstandings related to storage and bandwidth calculations.
Thanks to the team for considering this suggestion, and I hope to see this feature implemented soon!

I completely agree with this issue. In today's standards, 1 GB is typically understood to be 1000 MB, whereas 1024 MB represents 1 GiB. It's essential to clarify this distinction to avoid confusion, especially for customers who are expecting calculations based on the 1000 MB = 1 GB format.cPanel should update the disk calculation method.

cPanel should implement this promptly to prevent any potential confusion for users.

cPanel should update its disk calculation method to improve accuracy and clarity. Implementing this change as soon as possible would help reduce user confusion and enhance overall user experience. Currently, some users are struggling to understand the existing system, so a prompt update from the cPanel Official Team would be highly beneficial.

I completely agree with this request.
The current system of calculating 1 GB as 1024 MB instead of using the correct distinction between GB (1000 MB) and GiB (1024 MB) does create confusion, especially when dealing with precise bandwidth and storage calculations. Many other control panels like Webuzo have already implemented a feature that allows users to select the correct measurement unit.
Adding this option in cPanel would definitely be a valuable improvement for users who require accurate data tracking. I hope the team considers implementing this feature in future updates!
Thanks for raising this issue.

I fully agree with this issue. According to current standards, 1 GB is generally recognized as 1000 MB, while 1 GiB equals 1024 MB. It's important to clearly differentiate between these two to prevent confusion, especially for customers who expect calculations based on the 1000 MB = 1 GB format. cPanel should update its disk calculation method to reflect this distinction.

It needs to be implemented as soon as possible. Disk Calculation System is highly anticipated for us.

Not to sidetrack this tread, but no one outside the nerds in this forum care of a GB is 1000 MB or 1024 GB. Our customers (mostly business people, web developers etc.) just care that they are using 58% of their disk/bandwidth, not the absolute number.
I'm not saying that it should not be changed, but the percent utilization may be much more important to a fair share of the consumer market.
My 2 cents.

I completely concur with this matter. As it stands, 1 GB is commonly acknowledged as 1000 MB, whereas 1 GiB equals 1024 MB. It's crucial to clearly distinguish between these two terms to avoid any confusion, particularly for customers who anticipate calculations based on the 1000 MB = 1 GB standard. cPanel should revise its disk calculation approach to accurately capture this important difference.
