Cloudflare proxied domains are slow

For last week we have encountered increase in complains from customers, who use Cloudflare proxy. We had no significant changes in config, but suddenly they are getting errors (error code 522), mostly on CSS / JS files.

I don't see anything in server logs, most of security features are disabled. Just plain CloudLinux , cPanel and Apache. Once they disable Cloudflare proxy - things start working fast..

Anyone heard anything, that might be related?

  Have you checked the firewall logs at all? It is possible that Cloudflare may have tripped a firewall rule and is being blocked by the server (or is being denied access for some other reason): Cloudflare's IP are listed on https://www.cloudflare.com/ips .

  Is KeepAlives enabled in Apache?

  Have you seen https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/troubleshooting/http-status-codes/cloudflare-5xx-errors/#error-522-connection-timed-out ?
