Outlook 2010 - Windows - cPanel - Cannot Connect
Hi,
I have a customer (probably the only one) with Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 and we could not configure her new mailbox on our server with all the standard settings. We tried POP3 and IMAP. Incoming using SSL. Tried Outgoing on ports 465 and 587 with either SSL or TLS and nothing worked. Outlook kept reporting that the server doesn't support the encryption method or something to that effect... Is cPanel not compatible with Outlook 2010 or is it more of a Windows 7 issue?

Hey there! This is an issue with the SSL requirements for Windows 7, and they won't be able to connect to a cPanel machine without some modifications as it's so out of date now. We have some additional details here:
You could also make this work by lowering the security of the server, which I'm guessing you don't want to do (although I'll be honest, I haven't tried these instructions in several years so I'm no longer sure if it's possible) https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/19148321969175-Outlook-2007-Unable-to-connect-to-Email-IMAP-POP

Thank you for the info! I'm going to first encourage the customer to upgrade their Windows and Outlook but if that doesn't fly then I will look at trying that Windows 7 modification. I'd prefer not to mess with the server/cPanel accounts if that can be avoided.
