@TechBill - thanks for that. That would apply to your system then - once you're on MySQL 8, you can't switch to MariaDB. Is there a way to switch to MariaDB manually or outside of cPanel?

Never mind .... I had to ssh using the main domain then su in. This user have it own domain account on same server but it wouldn't allow it to su up unless user ssh back in with the server main ...
