Yes I would say the odds are that you were hacked I would back up your site since it's only one and wipe the server and restore the backup. Then check your site for vulnerabilities.

CPanel already monitors the Apache service and tries to restart if down via the taliwatchd system. Click on service manager in WHM and verify the enabled and monitored boxes are checked.

Did you remount the drive that was mounted previously as home2? If not you will need to do that it would not mount automatically after the os reload.
