You should probably look at the log file and see what is getting generated so often and resolve that problem. The logs are just an indication of another problem happening.

So, CPU load in top on the VM is very low, but the CPU usage reported in VCenter is high? You check other VM's running in there? Are most of them reporting high?

You can add it as an domain alias and it will behave the way you want, assuming you do not use any rewrites in your code or htaccess that push it back to the primary domain.

Forwarders are located in the file /etc/valiases/domain.com. You can just copy that file over, just make sure the ownership and permissions are correct when you are done.
