    Disregard this post...found that this feature was not installed on my VPS.... It has now been installed after completing my research. My apologies.

    After finally searching the right combination of words I found this post and resolved my issue: The restore failed because the username "xxxx" is invalid or not an existing cPanel user.

    Sounds like you're trying to restore the backup from the cPanel account, instead of WHM. Is that correct? Here are docs for properly restoring a cPanel backup:
