That means the host you are putting in the hostname field doesn't resolve to an IP address so it cannot make a connection. Try using the IP of the server instead.

Depends, how are you trying to obtain it? Only via the API or? The easiest way would be SSH using the command: free -m but yeah would come down to the method in which you want to obtain it.
