But setting backup retention to 1 will not delete the backup in my case because I no longer want the monthly backup at all. Not even 1 backup. My 1 backup would be about 1.5 TB.

I am using JetBackup 5 to do the backup at WHM » Plugins » JetBackup 5. I have initiated the deletion process via SSH.
