ELevate blocker: cPanel thinks that this is a container-like environment

Symptoms

When running the elevate-cpanel script on a Virtuozzo container, you encounter a warning similar to the following.

  cPanel thinks that this is a container-like environment.
  This cannot be upgraded by the native leapp tool.
  Consider contacting your hypervisor provider for alternative solutions.

Description

Virtuozzo servers are configured to boot into the kernel specified in the container configuration data instead of booting to the kernel defined in the GRUB2 configuration. Virtuozzo uses the almaconvert8 command to upgrade containers to AlmaLinux 8.

Workaround

The Virtuozzo administrator will have to run the almaconvert8 command with the --elevate option to upgrade the OS on containers with cPanel.
