Introduction
PuTTY is a free application that allows Windows users to access Linux servers via SSH. This article provides the steps necessary to SSH into a cPanel server using PuTTY.
Procedure
Please note that the following instructions assume that PuTTY has already been installed.
- From the Windows "Start" menu, open the PuTTY application.
- In the "Session" interface, enter the hostname or IP address of the server in the "Host Name (or IP address)" text box.
- Enter the port number in the "Port" text box.
- Select the "SSH" protocol.
- Click "Open."
- Enter the SSH username.
- Enter the SSH password.
