How to SSH using PuTTY with a password

Introduction

PuTTY is a free application that allows Windows users to access Linux servers via SSH. This article provides the steps necessary to SSH into a cPanel server using PuTTY.

Procedure

Please note that the following instructions assume that PuTTY has already been installed.

1. From the Windows "Start" menu, open the PuTTY application.
2. In the "Session" interface, enter the hostname or IP address of the server in the "Host Name (or IP address)" text box.
3. Enter the port number in the "Port" text box.
4. Select the "SSH" protocol.
5. Click "Open."
6. Enter the SSH username.
7. Enter the SSH password.
