Why does WHM/cPanel show "Your connection is not private" when accessing over IP?

Why do I see "Your connection is not private" in my browser when I access the cPanel & WHM Software over HTTPS using the server's IP Address? (example: https://203.0.113.2:2087)

Answer

When accessing the cPanel & WHM using the above method, it's normal for your browser to display a warning regarding the connection not being private. This is because most SSL Certificates will not include an IP address and will instead use domains. To access cPanel & WHM by IP without warning, you would need to obtain an SSL from a Certificate Authority that allows IPs to be included and then install the SSL as described below.

Warning:  AutoSSL does not support the inclusion of IPs.

It is safe to bypass the warning message. In chrome, this is done by clicking on "Advanced" then "Proceed to 203.0.113.2 (unsafe)".
