What is an effective hostname?

Effective hostnames will meet the following conditions.

The hostname must not begin with www, a number, or service name (for example, cpanel.example.com or whm.example.com).
The hostname must not end with a hyphen (-).
The hostname must be a fully-qualified domain name (FQDN) that uniquely identifies the server (for example, hostname.example.com or hostname.example.co.uk).
The hostname should not be for a domain that will be used on a cPanel account on your server.
The hostname must be 60 characters or less.
The hostname should be socially acceptable.
The hostname must use lowercase, Latin-script characters.
The hostname should resolve to the shared IP of the server and only this IP.
