ClamAV and ImunifyAV are both installed

Introduction

You may see an alert like the following in WHM's Security Advisor:

ClamAV and ImunifyAV are both installed. Uninstall ClamAV.

 

ClamAV and ImunifyAV are both pieces of software that do the same thing, operating as your server's antivirus. In the same way that it's not advisable to install multiple antivirus applications on a consumer computer, multiple antivirus services on a server can interfere with each other and cause issues in managing the server's security.

 

We recommend ImunifyAV over ClamAV, and as such, we recommend removing ClamAV from the server to ensure there are no conflicts with the operation of ImunifyAV.

 

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Manage Plugins page in WHM at Home » cPanel » Manage Plugins.
  2. Click the Uninstall "ClamAV for cPanel" button.
