System still has EasyApache 3 RPMs installed

I received an email saying that my server still had EasyApache 3 RPMs installed and it said to remove them. Is this safe?

Answer

EasyApache 3 has not been developed for years, and is superseded by EasyApache 4. The email should contain the list of packages to remove, along with the command that would need to be ran to remove said packages. Typically, the command is this:

yum -y remove easy-basesystem easy-icu easy-libicu easy-libicu-devel easy-libicu-doc

Running this command is safe and should only remove the specified packages. These are typically not needed on servers running EasyApache 4.
