How to modify your server's "Dormant services"

Introduction

By default, certain cPanel managed services will run dormant. When one of these services is idle for 5 minutes, it will unload itself from the server's memory, leaving a tiny “listening” service in place. Use of the dormant service feature might help to decrease memory use. The following services can be enabled to run dormant:

- cpdavd
- cphulkd
- cpsrvd
- dnsadmin
- spamd

Procedure

To manage dormant services, you will need to go to WHM's Home »Server Configuration »Tweak Settings. Then search for "Dormant services." (This is found under the "software" section.)

Check the boxes for which services you would like to run dormant, and uncheck for services where you would like them to not run dormant.

Once finished, save your changes so that the cPanel service itself can restart with your new changes.
