Introduction
When deleting a file using the cPanel File Manager, by default it will be placed in the .trash folder in the account's home directory. The instructions below cover how to remove these files from the server completely.
Procedure
Removing some files
- Login to cPanel for the account and navigate to the following location: "cPanel / Files / File Manager"
- Click the "View Trash" button.
- Sort the trash by size, name, permissions, last modified, and type.
- Select which files you want to remove and then select the "delete" option at the top.
Removing all files
- Login to cPanel for the account and navigate to the following location: "cPanel / Files / File Manager"
- Click the "View Trash" button.
- Click the "Empty Trash" button.
- Confirm by clicking the "Empty Trash" button in the pop-up box.
If you are uncertain whether it is trash files using up your cPanel account's disk space, I would recommend navigating to "Disk Usage" inside of cPanel. ("cPanel / Files / Disk Usage")
From this interface, you will be able to figure out exactly how the disk space gets utilized. I would highly recommend reviewing our disk usage documentation as well.
By now, you should be able to clear this pesky trash from your cPanel account.
