High CPU when copying large files
-
Disk I/O is always going to be a bottleneck, although with SSD this shouldn't be that much of an issue. I'm assuming this is a KVM or Xen based VPS, since CloudLinux on OpenVZ is mostly useless. How large of a file are we talking about? Who is copying the file, root or an under privileged user? How many other Virtual Environments are sharing this VPS node? 0 -
Its not container based virtualization. CloudLinux works fine. Smaller backup files are fine. But when copying files that are few gigs large, there is a problem. CPU usage goes skyhigh. Root is copying the file. I am using MC to connect to my ftp backup space. There are ~80 virtual accounts. All under CageFS. 0 -
Hello @webmasteryoda, It looks like you've opened a support ticket directly with CloudLinux to have them take a closer look: High CPU usage when using SSD Can you let us know the outcome of the support ticket? Thank you. 0 -
Hello Just to let you guys know that the problem is solved. Cloud Linux support gave me some info about my servers usage and they gave me their opinion about what is causing the problem. So, with that info I have contacted my hosting provider and they made some adjustments on the host server. Now, I can make backups and everything is fine. CPU load is under 1 most of the time. CPU steal time is low (under 5% most of the time). IO usage is fine - its not blocking me from doing backups. So, thanks to all these fine support crew who helped me to stay on the solid ground. Here is Cloud Linux support topic with this issue: 0 -
